NEW SOFTWARE RELEASE ==================== Products involved: AXIS 5470e Release date: Oct 20, 2004 Release type: SERVICE Software version: 7.00.0 File size: 1 504 532 bytes Last preceding release: 6.33 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Contact Information ==================== Please contact Axis Communications for product information, updates and support at: http://www.axis.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- Added features in version 7.00 ============================== - TCP/IP Printing Restriction - Rendezvous - New web interface - The TCP/IP parameters has been divided into two sets: TCP/IP Network and TCP/IP Printing - The Axis private enterprise MIB has been revised and updated. - Appletalk autodetection of printer type is now enabled/disabled on a per port basis (enabled by default). Default printer type is LaserWriter. - The account list has been increased to contain the last 100 jobs. - It is now possible to explicitly enable/disable the FTP, TELNET, SNMP and RemoteConfig (used for Netpilot). - Added default IP frame-type parameter, useful when choosing the default frame-type to be used for IP multi- or broadcasts. - Different factory-default behavior when using the test button. DHCP will be restored to its factory-default. - Three characters (fork, chair and hook) are added to the OCR-A font in the IPDS PCL driver. - Added support for line types (same as PS and PCL5) to the IPDS PCL3 driver. - Added three parameters for LLC type 2 configuration: * LLC Response Time * LLC Receiver Ack Time * LLC Inactivity Time - Added a printer driver to the SCS-emulator. It is a new Epson LQ driver that handles line density settings better, e.g. it can set the line density to exactly 8 LPI. - Added support for several copiers from Minolta. Corrected problems in version 7.00 ================================== - Improved support in MacOS X for a number of Epson laser printers. - If the print server receives the domain name option via DHCP, the value is validated before the parameter is set. - The tcp handling of retransmissions is improved. Data loss is now less frequent in tcp sessions where the amount of data retransmission is high. - The Delete Job functionality is improved, now it is possible to delete "hanging" jobs as well. - A TCP/IP problem which could cause network disturbances has been corrected. - A problem with printing very small jobs with raw tcp has been removed. Earlier, the print jobs could disappear if the print server got an end-of-file before the printer became available. - Solved problem with missing lines when print jobs are sent while the printer is disconnected or offline. - Improved performance by limiting simultaneous raw tcp connections to 5 per tcp port. Earlier, printing clients could consume all memory of the print server if the printer is e.g. powered off. - Improvement to make sure the print server honors the busy signal in the parallel port interface. - E-mail notifications can be triggered by printers that only use pin status. - Corrected a problem when moving print servers between half- to full-duplex hubs. - Print Job redirection to secondary printer will be done if the primary printer is in an error-condition. - Corrected a problem with aborted FTP print-jobs when the DATA connections has is shutting down. - Corrected an issue when logging in to the admin pages using the mozilla browser. - The IPDS PCL5 driver scales downloaded raster fonts incorrectly. The characters were a little bit too big and were also clipped in the right and lower edges. This problem has been corrected. - Corrected two PCL5 font mappings (FGID 87 and 222) in the IPDS PCL driver. - Corrected four font mappings (5687, 5707, 5815 and 5835 ) in the IPDS PCL3 driver. - The size of four fonts (5687, 5707, 5815 and 5835) in the IPDS PCL-driver has been corrected. - Horizontal text and overlay positioning in the IPDS PCL driver is improved. - A problem with lines drawn with the IPDS PCL driver being incorrectly positioned and trimmed has been corrected. - Improved horizontal positioning of IO-images in the IPDS PCL-driver. - IPDS barcodes is now printing correctly in all printer emulations irrespective of the emulated printer resolution and selected printer driver. - Both padded and unpadded RIDIC recorded G4 MMR encoded IO-images are now handled in IPDS-emulator. - A Twinax laser printer emulation combined with a matrix printer generated an extra line feed in the first print job after starting the print session. This has been corrected. - TN5250e end-of-job handling is improved. - When a TN5250e-parameter is changed only the affected TN5250e-session is restarted. - Prevent using an uninitialized pointer while traversing a parameter information list. - Prevent multiple deallocations of lustat structures. - Improved stability during LLC disconnections. - Improved End Bracket handling in Main Frame SNA. Limitations in version 7.00 ============================== - If upgrading from a firmware release earlier than 7.00, the DHCP parameter will be set to the default value, i.e. enabled. Thus after upgrading from these old releases any static IP parameters, such as the IP address, will be replaced with values obtained with DHCP. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this might cause you. - Axis ThinWizard is the recommended management tool to use with this print server. HP WebJetadmin is neither tested nor supported with this release. - Support for Checksums in Netware is not implemented. - Users are recommended to use the native print monitor on Win2000/XP. - If there is an SLP directory agent on the network and the slp-directory-agent option (RFC 2165) is used by the dhcp server, the Print Servers will most likely end up in a non recoverable endless loop. - If the print server receives a NDS tree name via dhcp, and the new name differs from the one stored in the print server, then the print server will keep on rebooting forever. The solution is either to disable the NDS tree option on the DHCP server, or to configure the print server on a network where no DHCP server is present. - Firmware release 7.00 and onwards only supports print servers with Axis brand name.
