Note. only 4-bit color support is available in the printer driver. - A new parallel port speed mode, ECP, has been added. This should be used with printers that support ECP but not PJL. - A Robots.txt file has been added to the built-in web server to avoid being indexed by search engines. - Added the fonts 2304, 2305, 2306, 2307, 2308, 2309, 2310 and 2311 to the IPDS PCL driver. - Added a downloaded input paper tray table to the IPDS PS driver. This table is needed in the Canon iR-series copiers. - Underscore '_' is now allowed in TN5250e and TN3270e printer names. - Added support for retrieval of the printers serial number using three various methods. - Added more updates of the printer capability information (PJL), at certain intervals and when there is no print job being printed. - Added one more method for retrieving the printers detailed status (PJL). - Imporved the PJL response parsing to support also alternative responses and responses with variations outside of the correct specification. - Added support for selecting in- and output tray via the IPDS LCC-command. - Added support for 240 and 600 DPI in IPDS LF1-type downloaded fonts with relative metrics. - Added the fonts 304, 305, 306, 307, 318, 319, 322, 400, 404, 416, 420, 424, 701 and 20224 to the IPDS PCL driver. - Added a copier driver description to the IBM "Add Session" wizard. Corrected problems in version 7.08.2 ==================================== - The IPDS emulator can now handle printouts with extensive overlays without running out of memory. - Simplex/Duplex problems in the IPDS emulator and PS driver is corrected. - Corrected a problem with decoding IPDS IO-images coded with IBM MMR. - A problem with the IPDS overlay offset parameter is corrected. - Three font has incorrect vertical offset from the barcode when used for printing barcode text. The vertical offset is adjusted for theese fonts: FGID 19, 87 and 245. - Correct the default barcode width in the 4332 emulation. - Truncated Telnet commands is now handled correctly in Telnet, TN5250e and TN3270e. - The NPS no longer ends up in a non recoverable endless loop if it receives the slp-directory-agent option from the DHCP server, and an SLP DA is is present on the net. - The NPS no longer keeps rebooting for ever if it receives a NDS tree name via dhcp and the new name differs from the one stored in the print server. - When upgrading NPS's connected directly to a Cisco Catalyst switch with FTP, the client occasionally timed-out and terminated the upgrade operation. The reason was that the NPS during the upgrade process first closed and then re-established the Ethernet link to the switch. When the link is estimated again the switch does not forward packets to and from the NPS for approximately 30 secs, which makes some clients tiem-out the operation. This problem has been solved. The NPS no longer terminates the link. - When upgrading an NPS with FTP, in some cases the upgrade would fail, it would get stuck before upgrading begun due to a bug in the FTP flash programmer code. This problem has now been solved. - In some network environments the NPS could have difficulties obtaining an address using DHCP due to late answers from the DHCP server. The DHCP client in the NPS now tries for a longer time period to solve this problem. - The NPS now sends a gratuitous ARP when after boot and when ever the IP address changes. - The NPS now again supports HP Printer Installer for Unix. - Corrected behaviour when receiving ICMP packets sent to Ethernet multicast addresses. The NPS no longer replies to them unless the IP address is our own, or an IP multicast address that we listen to. - Rendezvous is now known as Bonjour. - Improved handling of PJL communication with the printer. * No PJL commands are sent before print jobs. * Status command is sent once at startup or when connecting a printer. * Changes in PJL parsing to handle changes in PJL command syntax. - Pagecount command is sent after the print job to make sure that we show the correct pagecount on the web page. - Corrected background color on some web pages. - Corrected a problem with establishment of passive FTP data connection. The connection is now not considered established until the three-way handshake is completed. And FTP does not send any data to the TCP stack until the connection is fully established. Thus no data loss occurs. - Improvement in the updating procedure of the detailed status(PJL) message displayed on the print servers web pages and in the status file available through ftp and telnet. - The SCS escape control code is translated to ASCII escape. - The IPDS AR-command parsing is now accepting all possible command lengths. - Corrected the IO-image Mapping control option Point-to-pel handling in the IPDS emulator. - IPDS PCL won't send a Unit of Measure command after each print job. - Corrected one IM-image and two IO-image problems in the IPDS PCL-driver. - IPDS large fonts is printed using HPGL fonts in the PCL5 driver and using PCL fonts in the PCL 3/4 driver. - The font width calculation in the IPDS PCL driver is enhanced. - Support for the three page sizes Folio, Hagaki and Statement is added to the IPDS PCL driver. - The IPDS PCL driver is now always sending the paper Source command to the printer. - The default paper source numbers in the IPDS PCL driver is changed to match the paper source numbers used in the SCS PCL driver. - The trimming margins in the IPDS PCL driver is minimized. - A problem where some text is missing after an IPDS mark form has been drawn is corrected in the IPDS PCL driver. - The copier driver EOJ parsing is corrected. - Improved EOJ-handling in TN3270e. - Improved EOJ-handling in the SCS- and IPDS-emulators. - Sometimes TN5250e printouts can stop in the middle with the AS400 spoolfile status WTR (writing) and the printer on-line and waiting for print data. This problem is corrected. - Enhanced the printer status reporting and handling in TN5250e. - Corrected a problem where downloaded fonts were discarded in the IPDS PostScript driver. - Corrected a problem with IM-image scaling in the IPDS PCL driver. The IM-images were sometimes both vertically and horizontally replicated. - Downloaded IPDS fonts could get mixed up in the PCL driver. This could occur if two printouts, with downloaded fonts, is separated with more than 10 seconds. - The Font Name field of the PCL Font Header is now zero padded in the IPDS PCL driver. Limitations in version 7.08.2 ============================= - Support for Checksums in Netware is not implemented. - Axis ThinWizard is the recommended management tool to use with this print server. HP WebJetadmin is neither tested nor supported with this release. - FW 7.00 and later are not fully compatible with TW 3.00. The Print Server name will be missing and the Status reported by TW 3.0 will be wrong. For full functionality please use TW 3.04, or higher. - Firmware release 7.00 and onwards only supports print servers with Axis brand name.
