AXIS StorPoint DISCO is a powerful tool for finding and accessing networked CD/DVDs that reside on AXIS StorPoint Storage Servers.
AXIS StorPoint DISCO gathers all discs in a single folder under My Computer within the Windows Explorer. Thus, you will no longer need to browse through the entire Network Neighborhood in order to locate the discs you are looking for. As AXIS StorPoint DISCO hides the network topography, the discs will always be easy to find and access.
AXIS StorPoint DISCO includes an application launcher that allows you to create and use launch objects. These launch objects are similar to Windows shortcuts, but they have much more functionality. A launch object can:
- Start programs and documents from anywhere on the network.
- Automatically map and unmap drive letters.
- Initiate a series of actions such as displaying message boxes, parameter lists and file selection dialogs.
Two types of installations are available for AXIS StorPoint DISCO:
- Standalone - which gives all the users full functionality. For small workplaces or single users, this is the recommended setup.
- Client/Server - which allows an administrator to organize discs and launch objects into folders that the client users can select. The administrator can create a silent setup script, which means that the client installations can be performed without user interaction. For larger workplaces with a central system administration, this is the recommended setup.
In summary, AXIS StorPoint DISCO offers the following benefits:
- All discs located on AXIS StorPoint Storage Servers on the network are presented in the AXIS StorPoint DISCO folder created under My Computer in the Windows Explorer. This means easy access to the discs for browsing, mapping, creating shortcuts etc. without a new user interface to learn.
- Possibility to collect frequently used discs in personal favorite folders.
- Automatic mapping (AutoMapping) of accessed discs.
- Use of launch objects, which can be associated with any file on the network.
- Client/Server setup for limiting the number of discs displayed to the client users.
- Start Microsoft Windows.
- Locate the setup file, DISCOSetup200.exe.
- Run the DISCOSetup200.exe file and follow the instructions on the screen.
Note: If you are using Windows 95 version 4.00.95 or 4.00.95a, you might have to update the COMCTL32.DLL system file. The AXIS StorPoint DISCO installation program will check this for you and ask whether you want to upgrade or not.

Known Problems
- Moving items to the Trashcan/Recycle bin does not work in Windows 95.
Problem: When trying to search the NetWare Network on Windows 95/98 with the Microsoft NetWare Client, the search will fail unless the Microsoft NDS Service is installed. Solution: Install the NDS Service. For Windows 98, this service is available on your Windows 98 CD. For Windows 95, go to the Microsoft Web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q138/7/09.aspProblem: If you are using the Microsoft NetWare Client and Windows 98, you may experience a system crash when browsing for a destination folder during installation. Solution: Accept the suggested folder, or manually write the destination folder of your choice. For more information about this problem, go to the Microsoft Web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q192/2/49.aspProblem: AXIS StorPoint DISCO does not display all the discs that reside on storage servers with firmware version 3.x or 4.x. Solution: Storage servers that are using firmware version 3.x and 4.x do not handle share names with more than 12 characters correctly. For this reason, AXIS StorPoint DISCO will not display such discs. In firmware version 5.00, this problem has been corrected.
