AXIS Q1961-XTE Explosion-Protected Thermal Camera
Thermometric for remote temperature measuring
Configurable temperature detection areas
Spot temperature reading
Worldwide hazardous area certifications
Built-in cybersecurity with Axis Edge Vault
There are a number of regulations for explosion protection certification in different parts of the world. Always ensure that the product's certification matches that of your installation's requirements.
Certified for Zone and Division 2 hazardous locations, this explosion-protected, thermometric camera can remotely monitor temperatures and trigger temperature-based events. So, you can avoid unwanted downtime in production and plan for predictive maintenance.
What’s the temperature? Thermometric!
AXIS Q1961-XTE can measure temperatures from -40 °C to 350 °C (-40 °F to 660 °F).* It will send a notification if the temperature exceeds or falls below a set threshold which could indicate that the equipment is getting close to overheating, or there’s a leak in the system. It will also send a notification if the temperature increases or decreases too rapidly. This thermal camera supports up to 10 configurable polygonal detection areas. And spot temperature reading lets you see the exact temperature in specific areas. Furthermore, it can be integrated with process control systems, so you can create a data-driven sensory network and gain deeper insights into your processes.
Accuracy of +/- 5°C in 0-120°C. See Datasheet for other temperature ranges.
Smart and accurate
This thermometric camera can remotely monitor temperatures, so you don’t need to be on site to know if your equipment is getting close to overheating. Smart filtering will disregard uninteresting objects such as the warm exhausts of passing work vehicles, resulting in fewer false notifications. Thanks to edge-to-edge technology, you can connect, for instance, a network speaker to enable audio alarms. And through metadata, you’ll have access to temperature statistics. This thermometric camera also offers support for powerful analytics.
Cost-efficient coverage in hazardous areas
AXIS Q1961-XTE is designed and certified for Zone and Division 2 explosion-prone applications (Zone 2,21 and Class I/II/III Division 2 according to ATEX/IECEx/cULus). This cost-efficient camera is compact and lightweight, and it supports PoE for easy and flexible installation. Featuring a 7 mm lens, it offers wide area coverage. Electronic image stabilization (EIS) provides smooth video even in scenes with vibrations. Furthermore, this sturdy camera is IP66- and IP67-rated for protection against the ingress of water and dust. And Axis Edge Vault, a hardware-based cybersecurity platform, safeguards the device and protects sensitive information from unauthorized access.
Thermal cameras are subject to stricter export control regulations than visual cameras. Axis offers thermal cameras in both 30 fps and 8.3 fps versions to comply with export control legislation in most parts of the world. There is no other difference between a 30 fps and an 8.3 fps camera than the frame rate.

Axis explosion-protected cameras are certified for installation in environments with both gas and dust. Certifications may differ according to country. See all certifications for a product on its datasheet.
There are three explosion-protection classification schemes in the world. A product can be certified to either one or even all three different schemes.
For North America, the Class Division or the Class Zone scheme can be used. A number of NRTLs (National Recognized Test Laboratories), accredited by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), can issue certificates under their own name upon successful examination and testing according to relevant UL, FM or CSA standards. Some of these are UL, MET, FM and CSA; each of these will give access to the North American market.
The rest of the world uses the IEC Zone system. A National Certifying Body (NCB) from any participating country in the IEC CB Scheme will issue a certificate upon successful examination and testing according to the IEC 60079 standards, giving market access to all participating countries, with a few exceptions (typically installation instructions in the local language, specific marking requirements etc). Here, the name of the certifying body is irrelevant, it’s the name of the legal framework that gives the certification its name. These include:
ATEX
Mandatory certification for installations within EU, but also accepted in other parts of the world. Products tested against EN 60079 and certified for use in hazardous locations according to ATEX Equipment Directive 2014/34/EU.
IECEx
Products tested against IEC 60079 and certified for use in hazardous locations. The international IEC 60079 standard is widely accepted in Asia-Pacific, Africa and Australia.
PESO
Products tested against IEC 60079 and certified for use in hazardous locations according to Indian regulations.
IA
Products tested against IEC 60079 and certified for use in hazardous locations in South Africa.
INMETRO
Products tested against IEC 60079 and certified for use in hazardous locations in Brazil.
EAC
Products tested against IEC 60079 and certified for use in hazardous locations in the Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan shall bear the EAC (EuroAsian Conformity) mark.
KCs
Products tested against IEC 60079 and certified for use in hazardous locations in South Korea.
JPEx
Products tested against IEC 60079 and certified for use in hazardous locations in Japan.
OSHA(TW)
Products tested against IEC 60079 and certified for use in Taiwan.
CCC
Products tested against IEC 60079 and certified for use in China.
